If you’ve seen CBN products, you might’ve thought it was a typo. Not to be confused with CBD (cannabidiol), CBN (cannabinol) products are now gaining popularity because of its alleged health benefits. Many people use CBN to soothe pain and to help them fall asleep.

Cannabis and hemp plants are filled with dozens of chemicals, called cannabinoids. CBD is one of the most well-studied cannabinoids, but recent research suggests that CBN might have certain health benefits, too. Because of this, many CBD companies are now also producing CBN products.

But what exactly is CBN? And what are the benefits of using CBN oil? Here’s what you need to know.

The benefits of CBN

There isn’t enough research on CBN to know exactly how it can help and which conditions it might be able to treat.

However, there are a lot of promising studies that indicate that CBN could have a lot of medical potential. CBN might be able to treat the following:

Recent research has determined that CBN potentially has an array of medicinal benefits. According to Steep Hill Labs, it is the most sedative of all cannabinoids. Just 5mg of CBN is the equivalent of 10mg of Valium in body relaxation terms.

Like many cannabinoids, CBN might be able to reduce pain. A 2019 rodent study found that CBN relieved pain in rats. The authors suggested that CBN might also reduce pain in people with hard-to-treat chronic conditions like fibromyalgia. 2016 study looked at arthritic rats and found that CBN reduced their inflammation levels. This still needs to be studied on humans.

Staph infections. Hard-to-treat staph infections are caused by the MRSA bacteria, an antibiotic-resistant strain that can cause serious health conditions. CBN might be able to kill this bacteria, according to a study conducted in 2008.

Neurodegenerative diseases. A 2005 study found that CBN delayed the onset of ALS, a neurodegenerative disease, in rats. Since there is no known cure for ALS, this could be a game-changer and a source of hope for many people.

Future studies on CBN will be able to tell us exactly how it affects our bodies. For now, many people use it for pain relief and for sleep. Many people claim CBN can soothe insomnia, but there are no studies that confirm this claim.

Is CBN safe to take?

So far, scientists haven’t discovered any risks or side effects of CBN. This doesn’t mean there are no risks or side effects, just that they haven’t been studied yet.
As with any supplement, it’s important to speak to your doctor before using CBN. Your doctor might advise against using it if you have any health complications or if you use chronic medication.

How do I use CBN oil?

CBN usually comes in the form of oil or tincture. It’s often mixed with CBD oil. Our drops come in a 1:1 ratio of CBD to CBN. This way, you get the benefits of CBD along with the benefits of CBN.

As with CBD oil, CBN oil should be dropped below the tongue. Drop your desired dosage underneath your tongue, taking care not to let the dropper itself touch your tongue as this can introduce bacteria into the bottle. Hold the tincture there for about thirty seconds. This allows the cannabinoids to be absorbed into your bloodstream through the capillaries under your tongue.

While you can add CBN oil to a smoothie or snack, this would mean that it’s absorbed through your digestive system instead of directly into your bloodstream. This usually means it’ll take longer for it to work, and it might be less effective.

That being said, it’s really up to you to experiment with it: use it how you’d like it.

How much CBN should I take?

It’s a good idea to start off with a low dosage. Continue with a low dosage for about a week, and, if you feel that you need something stronger, increase the dosage slightly. Keep doing this until you feel some relief.

We have two CBN products, both of which contain zero THC:

-1,000mg (500mg CBN Isolate + 500mg Broad Spectrum Distillate) and 500mg (250mg CBN + 250mg Broad Spectrum Distillate)

Our products are all tested by a third-party lab, ensuring that they’re of the highest quality. You can read our certificates of analysis here .

CBN is currently one of the hottest up-and-coming health products on the market, and more and more people are using it for certain health purposes.

It is hard to say whether Hans ever imagined how popular his Gummi Bears would prove to be or the many iterations they would see over the next century. But a man living in the 1920s could have never dreamed his confections would eventually become a popular method of cannabidiol consumption.

CBD gummies are gaining prevalence among those looking for an easy to swallow way to take their daily dose of cannabidiol, but how are these therapeutic treats made?

HOW ARE CBD GUMMIES MADE?

Similar to their non-medicinal counterparts, CBD gummies are fun to consume and come in a They also contain many of the same ingredients as regular gummies, such as gelatin, pectin, and carnauba leaf wax. These ingredients give gummy candies their gumminess and are also commonly found in other sticky, sugary foods like jams and jellies.

What sets CBD gummies apart from the bags of colorful bears hanging near gas station checkouts is the inclusion of either full- or broad-spectrum hemp extract. Iconic Remedies uses extract sourced from organically grown Colorado hemp along with sugar and flavoring to create a sweet, squishy treat that delivers all the advantages of cannabidiol in five fabulous flavors: blue raspberry, cherry, grape, orange cream, and green apple.

WHAT BENEFITS DO CBD GUMMIES HAVE?

While many people choose CBD gummies over other methods of consumption for their delicious taste, they offer many additional benefits, some of which may come as a surprise. Apart from the medicinal benefits of cannabidiol, taking it in gummy form has unique advantages that make it appealing to many CBD consumers.

MEDICINAL BENEFITS

Cannabidiol is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in both hemp and marijuana plants. It has been used throughout history as a panacea for everything from nausea to insomnia, with a mounting body of clinical research to back up the surplus of anecdotal evidence.

CBD may improve a host of physical and mental ailment by interacting with the endocannabinoid (EC) system, a network of receptors found throughout the human body. This system helps to regulate a multitude of biological processes, allowing a variety of conditions to respond well to treatment with cannabinoids, such as:

Anxiety: Studies in both humans and animals demonstrate CBD has the potential to alleviate anxiety and stress. Treatment with cannabidiol was effective at reducing both behavioral symptoms of anxiety, such as fidgeting and physiological measures of stress, like heart rate. These results appear to be caused by the effects of CBD on serotonin receptors.

Depression: Similar to anxiety, the ability of cannabidiol to influence serotonin receptors may ease symptoms of clinical depression. Research shows that CBD causes antidepressant-like effects within the brain, which may help to improve mood and regulate emotions.

Epilepsy: The most widely accepted use of cannabidiol is in the treatment of epilepsy, although how it reduces seizures remains unclear. Enough evidence for using cannabidiol to treat epilepsy exists that the FDA has approved an anti-epileptic medication containing CBD called Epidiolex.

Inflammation: CBD may help mitigate the pain of chronic inflammatory conditions like arthritis by regulating the immune system and suppressing the production of the compounds that cause inflammation.

Movement Disorders: Studies show CBD has the potential to improve movement disorders like Parkinson’s and Huntington’s. Cannabidiol has antioxidant and neuroprotective properties that may not only treat but prevent these debilitating diseases.

Neuropathic Pain: Fibromyalgia and similar conditions cause debilitating pain that is often difficult to treat. Research shows CBD might offer a way to relieve these types of diseases by regulating the areas of the brain that perceive pain.

There are too many benefits of taking cannabidiol to list them all here, even for people without chronic medical conditions, as balancing the EC system can contribute to maintaining a state of overall wellbeing.

Continue reading about the effects of CBD on health here or learn more about using cannabinoids to treat chronic illness here.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

Alongside their miraculous medicinal benefits, CBD gummies are delicious and offer a way to take that daily dose of cannabidiol that feels more like a treat than a chore. And much like gummy vitamins, CBD gummies provide an easy way for parents to get children who may need cannabidiol to take it.

CBD gummies are also very convenient, with no need for messy measuring to get an exact dose. They can be taken at home or on the go for long-lasting relief and relaxation. Plus, the non-discrepant appearance of CBD gummies makes for discreet dosing whenever and wherever needed.

ARE CBD GUMMIES SAFE?

Because CBD gummies absorb through the digestive system, they not only offer longer-lasting effects than other methods of consumption but also come with fewer side effects. Although cannabidiol does not have many side effects, in any form, certain means of using it, like smoking or vaping, can be detrimental to respiratory health.

The known side effects of cannabidiol include dry mouth, dizziness, drowsiness, and other minor discomforts. These side effects usually resolve on their own within a few days of beginning to take CBD or changing dose.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

CBD gummies may be especially tempting to kids, and Iconic Remedies recommends taking extra caution to ensure they remain out of the reach of children. While it is vital to keep all cannabis and hemp products in a secure location, it is necessary to note that gummies are far more appealing to children than capsules, tinctures, and other products that do NOT resemble candy.

WHICH CBD GUMMIES ARE BEST?

Iconic Remedies CBD gummies are available in both full- and broad-spectrum, but which one is better? Well, that depends on the person taking them.

The only difference between the two is THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis that causes the high associated with marijuana use. Full-spectrum gummies contain trace amounts of THC (less than 0.3%), and broad-spectrum gummies are THC-free.

Both options contain over a hundred cannabinoids, along with terpenes and other beneficial compounds that work in tandem to provide the maximum amount of relief possible.

BROAD-SPECTRUM VS. FULL-SPECTRUM

Broad-spectrum CBD gummies are the best choice for anyone who may need to undergo drug testing, as even trace amounts of THC can trigger a positive result. They are also preferential for those pre-dispositioned to psychosis, as THC has the potential to aggravate psychotic symptoms in some individuals, particularly children and young adults.

If taking THC is not a concern, then full-spectrum gummies are the perfect way to experience the entourage effect – all the goodness of hemp working together to heighten and prolong the therapeutic effects. Of these, cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are arguably the most well-known, but that is beginning to change.

A lesser-known cannabinoid, cannabigerol (CBG), is beginning to gain popularity among both scientific researchers and the general public. To understand this increased interest in CBG, let’s take a look at what it is and what it does.

WHAT EXACTLY IS CANNABIGEROL?

As previously mentioned, cannabigerol is a cannabinoid. More specifically, it is the neutral or non-acidic “child” of cannabigerolic acid (CBGA), the “parent” molecule of tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA), cannabidiolic acid (CBDA), and cannabichromenic acid (CBCA). The parent-child comparison refers to how cannabinoids form, with enzymes synthesizing the majority of CBGA into THCA, CBDA, and CBCA as the plant matures.

These acidic cannabinoids are nearly identical in molecular structure to their neutral counterparts, with one exception: carboxylic acid. Exposure to heat or ultraviolet light causes them to undergo a process known as decarboxylation, which turns acidic CBDA into neutral CBD, THCA into THC, and so forth.

Decarboxylation also turns any remaining cannabigerolic acid into CBG, but most strains of hemp will not contain very much CBGA upon reaching maturity. Some innovative growers have begun breeding plants with higher concentrations, making it easier to extract larger quantities of cannabigerol, but we will get back to that later. Now that you know what CBG is, it’s time to see how it works.

HOW DOES CANNABIGEROL WORK?

All cannabinoids, whether acidic or neutral, produce their effects by interacting with the endocannabinoid (EC) system via the receptors CB1 and CB2. The cannabinoids found in hemp can act either directly as receptor agonists or indirectly as antagonists. These interactions cause the receptors to send signals throughout the body that help control a variety of biological processes, ranging from mood to appetite.

Precisely how each cannabinoid interacts with the EC system is not always well understood. For example, THC is known to bind to both CB1 and CB2 receptors, making it an agonist, but CBD does not seem to have an affinity for either receptor and how it affects them is not all that clear.

Cannabigerol, on the other hand, acts as both an agonist and antagonist, depending on the receptor. Studies show that CBG binds particularly well to CB2, and has a measurable but indirect effect on CB1, comparable to CBD. The similarities between the two cannabinoids don’t stop there, either, even though there are some key differences.

Although the effects of CBD and CBG sometimes overlap, their molecular structures are very different.

HOW DOES CBG DIFFER FROM CBD?

Cannabigerol and cannabidiol are remarkably similar, at first glance. Both compounds are non-psychoactive, have little to no side effects, and offer a wide range of potential health benefits.

Although they do not interact in the same way with the EC system, some of their therapeutic effects still overlap, such as their antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, among others. But CBD has been shown to have a wider reach when it comes to health, particularly in the treatment of epileptic seizures and the neuropathic pain associated with fibromyalgia.

However, cannabigerol has not received nearly as much attention from researchers. The list of potential benefits will undoubtedly get longer as interest in this cannabinoid continues to grow. Although research into the effects of CBG is sparse, the results so far are promising and show that this cannabinoid warrants further investigation.

WHAT BENEFITS DOES CANNABIGEROL HAVE?

It is not surprising that some of the first research into CBG involves treating cancer. The possibility of preventing and treating this devastating disease with cannabinoids has been around for quite some time, and significant evidence exists to support this. Cannabigerol shows promise in the treatment of both colon-rectal and oral cancer.

REDUCES CANCER GROWTH

A study using mice shows that CBG may inhibit the growth of tumors and the formation of colon-rectal cancer (CRC) cells. This research indicates that cannabigerol may not only hamper the progression of CRC – the 2nd most common cancer in women and 3rd most common in men – but may also be useful as a preventative treatment. Higher doses were shown to cause cytotoxicity (death) of cancerous cells, and smaller doses stopped the cells from growing.

For oral cancer, CBG demonstrated the highest potential for inhibiting cell growth when compared to other treatments. Cannabigerol was able to outperform not only other cannabinoids but also the chemotherapy drug 5-fluorouracil.

As researchers continue to study the effects of cannabigerol, more and more benefits are sure to be discovered.

STIMULATES APPETITE

For late-stage cancer patients, cannabigerol might help lessen the effects of cachexia. Cachexia is the name given to the wasting away of the body near the end of terminal illnesses like cancer, kidney failure, HIV, and multiple sclerosis. A study in rats showed CBG was able to double food intake, which may help slow muscle wasting through the increased caloric intake, but there is sadly no way to reverse cachexia. This ability to stimulate appetite could also be beneficial in the treatment of eating disorders.

PROTECTS & REGULATES THE BRAIN

Cannabigerol may also be useful in the treatment of multiple sclerosis and other neurodegenerative diseases long before cachexia begins. A derivative of CBG, VCE-003.2, was able to improve several irregularities in brain function in mice with Huntington’s, as well as partially normalize abnormal genes associated with the disease. In mice with Parkinson’s, the antioxidant properties of this cannabinoid helped protect against damaging inflammation in the brain, and these results were duplicated in a study looking at multiple sclerosis.

Another potential function of CBG in the brain is as a noradrenaline and dopamine reuptake inhibitor. Both these neurotransmitters play a pivotal role in regulating emotion, with inadequate levels leading to depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders.

Other neurotransmitters affected by CBG include acetylcholine, which regulates muscle contractions in the bladder. Cannabigerol may help treat disorders like overactive bladder by controlling acetylcholine-induced contractions that cause incontinence.

IMPROVES GLAUCOMA

The benefits of cannabigerol extend from the brain to the eyes, where it can help treat glaucoma, the umbrella term for a group of conditions that cause damage to the optic nerve. CBG was shown to reduce ocular tension in cats, which causes symptoms like blurred vision, pain, or a sensation of pressure inside the eye. It also increased aqueous outflow or the amount of fluid flowing through the eye in rats, which may help slow the progression of vision loss from glaucoma.

Whether or not you have any of the previously mentioned illnesses, cannabigerol can still help maintain overall health by balancing the EC system, and it is easy to use! Just like other cannabinoids, there is CBG in full and broad-spectrum hemp products, and as we have already mentioned, some growers are breeding strains with high concentrations to make extraction of large amounts of CBG viable.

WHERE CAN YOU BUY CBG?

You can now experience all the healing benefits of cannabigerol on its own or alongside those of cannabidiol. Iconic Remedies is excited to announce the inclusion of several of these CBG extracts – CBG Oil Tincture, 1:1 CBG/CBD Oil Tincture, and CBG Isolate – to its product offerings. Like with any product containing cannabinoids, you must ensure you are buying from a reputable brand, so click here to learn more about the company and everything they do to ensure product quality.

Some of these accounts, such as the miraculous story of six-year-old Charlotte Figi, are supported by doctors and accompanying case studies. But does that mean that CBD is right for your child? That depends.

WHEN SHOULD YOU GIVE YOUR CHILD CBD?

Cannabidiol may be the right choice for your child if they are among the estimated 10-20 million American children and adolescents living with chronic illnesses and disabilities. CBD has been shown to improve the symptoms of the following conditions that often develop during childhood.

ANXIETY DISORDERS

These disorders have many names: generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and social anxiety disorder. According to the CDC, approximately 4.4 million children have some form of anxiety disorder. These disorders have many names – generalized anxiety disorder, PTSD, panic disorder, OCD, and social anxiety disorder – but they all share similar symptoms.

Preclinical (using animals) and early human studies have shown that cannabidiol can lessen these symptoms. A review of the research examining treating anxiety disorders with CBD noted “minimal sedative effect[s], and an excellent safety profile,” making it an appealing option for pediatric patients.

AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER

Outbreaks of problematic behavior, anxiety, and communication problems are common symptoms of autism. Treatment with cannabidiol was shown to reduce these symptoms in a study of 60 autistic children, as well as a reduction in stress levels reported by parents.

These results prompted one of the researchers, Dr. Ani Aran, to continue investigating the effects of CBD in autistic children. In December of 2018, he completed a study examining the results of 150 patients over three months, but the results are yet to be released.

SEIZURES & EPILEPSY

Cannabidiol is renowned for treating seizures and severe forms of epilepsy, such as Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. While most research focuses on adults, with the previously-mentioned case of Charlotte Figi being a notable exception, parents are adamant CBD helps their children.

A survey of parents found 84 percent reported using CBD enriched cannabis reduced seizure frequency for their children. Of these parents, 11 percent observed a total cessation of seizure while using cannabidiol, and there were no reports of dangerous side effects.

ATTENTION DEFICIT [HYPERACTIVE] DISORDER

While no studies have been conducted using children, there is evidence that CBD has the potential to help manage attention-deficient [hyperactive] disorder (ADD/ADHD).

A preclinical study of rats shows that CBD may reduce hyperactive symptoms, such as the inability to sit still, but did not appear to increase attention span. However, a human trial of Sativex, an oral spray that contains a 1:1 ratio of CBD to THC, showed a marked improvement in hyperactive and impulsive behaviors, as well as attention span and emotional control.

OTHER POTENTIAL USES

Researchers are continually identifying new and innovative uses for cannabidiol, some of which are specifically for infants. Perinatal (immediately before or after birth) brain injuries can cause a host of neurological problems that follow children throughout their lives. Animal studies have shown cannabidiol can reduce brain inflammation and cellular death caused by perinatal brain injuries, which may lessen the long-term functional impairment these injuries cause.

Another potential use of cannabidiol is in the treatment of the third most common form of childhood cancer, which is called neuroblastoma. This research is nowhere near complete, but the findings thus far have been promising, with CBD showing the ability to reduce the viability of neuroblastoma cells, leading to a decrease in tumor size and inhibited tumor growth.

HOW DO YOU GIVE CBD TO KIDS & ADOLESCENTS?

Giving children medication can be a bit difficult, depending on their age, and they will likely refuse to take anything that tastes unpleasant. Thankfully cannabidiol is remarkably versatile, making it much easier to find a method that works well for you and your child.

Adolescents that are willing to hold a tincture under their tongue can take it sublingually. Have your child hold it there for 30-60 seconds before swallowing to allow the CBD to absorb into the bloodstream. For younger children, mixing tincture or odorless, tasteless isolate into food and drinks might be the best option.

FINDING THE RIGHT DOSE

Unlike other medications, there are no guidelines for how much cannabidiol to use, and the right amount is different for everyone. When giving CBD to your child, you should always start with a low dose and gradually increase it. Some children may benefit from taking it all at one time, while others may need it spread out in 2 to 3 doses throughout the day.

Scientific studies show a wide range of doses, all the way from 0.5 mg/kg/day to 40 mg/kg/day, so determining the exact amount to start with can be tricky. Consider talking to a pediatrician before giving cannabidiol to your child, as they may be able to help you decide how much CBD your child needs.

WHERE CAN YOU BUY CBD FOR YOUR CHILD?

Although cannabidiol extracted from hemp is federally legal, there is still a lack of regulations around the production of CBD products. The onus for buying safe products often lies with the consumer, and that can be intimidating when purchasing something you intend to give to your child. Iconic Remedies wants to make this easier by helping you get to know their company, so you can be confident you are choosing the best product for your little one.

GROWING, EXTRACTING, & TESTING

The hemp used in all Iconic Remedies products is grown organically in Colorado, without the use of harmful chemicals and pesticides. A cold ethanol extraction process, which is among the safest and most effective methods, is used to make extracts free of any toxic solvent residue.

These extracts are added to other wholesome ingredients, like MCT oil, to create high-quality cannabidiol tinctures, isolates, and more. Each product is then tested by an independent lab to ensure they always contain what the label says, nothing more and nothing less.

CBD appears to be remarkably safe, especially compared to other medications commonly prescribed to children.

IS CBD ACTUALLY SAFE FOR CHILDREN TO USE?

There are not a lot of studies looking specifically at the long-term effects of giving CBD to pediatric patients or even chronic use in adults. However, the idea cannabidiol is relatively harmless is not unfounded; a review of the studies on effectiveness and safety support this idea, also noting it may be safer than many prescription medications. Additionally, the World Health Organization (WHO) states that cannabidiol is generally well-tolerated, does not show potential for dependence, and appears to cause minimal side effects.

POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS

Cannabidiol is not without side effects; drowsiness, loss of appetite, fatigue, and other mild discomforts are not uncommon, but they usually resolve themselves within a few days. In comparison, Adderall, the 23rd most commonly prescribed pediatric medication, can cause moodiness, delayed growth, behavioral tics, and dependence. In 2005, the Canadian government banned the sale of Adderall XR after attributing 20 mysterious deaths to the drug.

Cannabidiol can also interact with other medications, causing them to become more or less effective. The risk of interaction is higher when giving CBD to your child in food and drinks, as the liver enzymes that metabolize CBD are also responsible for breaking down many prescription medications. If your child regularly takes medication, talk to their pediatrician to determine if the dosage needs to be adjusted.

FULL-SPECTRUM VS. PURE CBD

Full spectrum cannabidiol is often thought to be more effective because the hundreds of compounds in hemp help heighten the effects of one another. While this phenomenon, known as the entourage effect, is supported by scientific evidence, full-spectrum products may be detrimental to brain health and neurological development when given to children.

The psychoactive component of hemp and marijuana, THC, may cause a neurological decline in adolescents, leading to poor memory function, lowered IQ scores, impaired reasoning, and delayed comprehension. Discontinuing the use of cannabis was unable to reverse these effects, suggesting that they are permanent.

However, there may be some children who benefit from the small about of THC in full-spectrum products, particularly those with debilitating conditions. You may also choose to give your child broad-spectrum products, which have the THC removed, instead of full-spectrum or pure cannabidiol. You can learn more about the differences between each type of product here.

Whether you are a novice or experienced cannabidiol (CBD) consumer, isolates are an excellent way to benefit from the effects of CBD without worrying about any additional compounds. Not only are isolates purchased from a reputable company the purest form of CBD you can buy, but they are also by far the most versatile.

WHAT EXACTLY IS AN ISOLATE?

Cannabidiol isolates are precisely what their name implies; pure CBD and nothing else. Hemp plants contain over 100 cannabinoids, as well as multiple terpenes and phenolic compounds. While these can be beneficial, they may not be appealing to everyone.

Isolates do not contain any of these additional compounds, as the extraction process removes them, but more on that later. What remains after extraction is pure cannabidiol, a white crystalline powder that is both tasteless and odorless. If you dislike the taste of hemp, CBD isolate is a perfect alternative to broad and full-spectrum products.

THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS

Using all the compounds in hemp together is rightly considered to be immensely beneficial, but cannabidiol alone can also improve and maintain health. A multitude of physical and psychological ailments benefit from treatment that incorporates pure CBD, with some responding better to isolates.

Using THC, even the trace amount of 0.3 percent found in full-spectrum products, can worsen symptoms for some people. For example, the effects of THC are especially detrimental to individuals at risk of developing psychosis and other psychological symptoms.

It can also be risky for anyone who undergoes regular drug screenings since even minute amounts of THC can trigger a positive result. If you regularly take medications, you should consult with your doctor before using CBD isolate, as it can effect some prescription and over-the-counter drugs.

Learn more about the therapeutic effects of pure cannabidiol here.

EXTRACTION PROCESS

There are many ways to extract cannabinoids. Iconic Remedies uses a cold ethanol extraction method, which results in products that are free from any chemical residue. This extraction method is not only clean, but it is also extremely safe and commonly used in the making of everyday food products like vanilla extract.

A process that is known as winterization then removes the fats, waxes, and other undesirable plant materials that have no place in the final product. The last step is short path distillation, which separates cannabinoids based on their boiling points, leaving only pure cannabidiol.

HOW DO YOU USE ISOLATES?

The versatility of CBD isolate is by far its most significant benefit. How you use cannabidiol impacts how long it takes to feel the effects and how long those effects last. Some methods are more beneficial than others for treating specific conditions, but whether ingested or inhaled, isolates are an excellent way to improve and maintain overall health.

CBD Isolate is extremely versatile – especially when baking yummy treats with infused oils!

SMOKING & VAPING

Inhalation allows cannabidiol to enter the circulatory system nearly instantaneously through the many blood vessels in the lungs. Although you will begin to feel the therapeutic effects within minutes, keep in mind that they will only last for an average of 3 hours.

Smoking, vaping, or dabbing an isolate is similar to using shatter. Add the desired amount to other smokable herbs, a vaporizer, or a traditional dab rig. This method of absorption (MOA) can be especially beneficial in the treatment of illnesses with sudden-onset symptoms that require rapid relief, such as panic attacks associated with anxiety.

SUBLINGUAL ABSORPTION

Sublingual means under the tongue and is a prevalent absorption method for those who use CBD tincture. Isolates can also be taken sublingually by holding it under your tongue for 60-90 seconds before swallowing.

The effects of sublingual absorption have a relatively quick onset time, taking around 5-15 minutes and lasting for 4-6 hours. Taking isolate under the tongue can be beneficial for symptoms of chronic conditions that require relatively fast relief that lasts, such as the inflammatory pain from arthritis.

TOPICAL APPLICATIONS

Isolate can be mixed with creams, lotions, or other skin-safe oils to facilitate topical use through transdermal (through the skin) absorption. The effects of topical CBD are felt within 25-35 minutes and last for up to 6 hours.

Topical application of pure cannabidiol can work wonders on problematic skin and improve the symptoms of psoriasis, eczema, and other dermatological conditions. This MOA is best as a spot treatment for pain and irritation, but very little CBD enters the bloodstream. The majority of the cannabidiol stays in the skin to interact with the many cannabinoid receptors it contains.

IN FOOD & DRINKS

The most versatile method of all is adding cannabidiol isolate to food and drinks. Although it takes longer for ingested CBD to work (about 30-60 minutes), the effects can last for up to 8 hours, and you can use it in recipes that cater to your specific tastes. There is one vital thing to consider, though.

The digestive system is not very good at delivering pure CBD to the bloodstream. After reaching the liver, enzymes metabolism cannabidiol into over 100 different metabolites, many of which are useless to the human body. Adding your isolate to oil that contains either medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) and long-chain triglycerides (LCTs) helps your body absorb it more efficiently.

HOW DO YOU COOK WITH CBD?

To add CBD isolate to recipes, you first have to add it into an oil that contains either MCTs or LCTs. Olive oil is an excellent source of long-chain triglycerides, and it is something you likely already have your pantry. Read on to learn how to make your own infused olive oil, which you can then use in place of other fats in your favorite recipes.

DIY INFUSED OLIVE OIL

To make your own infused olive oil, you will need a double boiler, 1 gram of CBD isolate, 1-2 ounces olive oil, and a sterile container. If you do not have a double boiler, you can make your own. Fill a large or medium pot about 1/4 full of water and place a smaller saucepan on top, ensuring that it does not touch the water.

Bring the water to a boil, then add your olive oil and isolate to the upper part of your actual or makeshift double boiler. Do not allow the water to reach a rapid boil, as this can cause it to splash into the oil. Stir for 5-10 minutes, until the oil is clear and the isolate fully dissolves.

Pour your newly infused olive oil into a sterile glass container. When using it for baking and cooking, replace the oil the recipe calls for with the same about of infused olive oil. Remember that heating cannabidiol above 400 degrees Fahrenheit will cause it to lose almost all of its benefits.

MEASURING AN EXACT AMOUNT

Isolates are 99 percent pure cannabidiol, meaning each milligram is equal to 0.99 milligrams of CBD. The most accurate way to measure an exact dose is to use a kitchen scale that displays weight in milligrams. Using this method, you measure out 25 milligrams of isolate you will be taking approximately 25 milligrams of cannabidiol, or 24.75 to be precise.

If you do not have access to a kitchen scale, you can also use a measuring spoon for more substantial amounts. A teaspoon is equal to approximately 4.2 grams, so to measure out about 1 gram (1000 milligrams) of isolate for making an infused oil, you would use 1/4 of a teaspoon. Unfortunately, the smallest measuring spoon you can easily buy is 1/16 of a teaspoon, or 250 milligrams, and is likely more CBD than you would be taking at one time.

To calculate the potency of DIY infused products, divide the amount of isolate in milligrams by the amount of oil in milliliters. For example, if you use 1 ounce of olive oil (29.57 milliliters) and 1 gram of pure CBD (1000 milligrams), you divide 1000 by 29.57 for a result of 33.78, meaning your infused oil contains 33.78 milligrams of cannabidiol per milliliter of oil.

You can see this article on determining the right amount of isolate to use to help you decide how much cannabidiol you should take. The ideal dose and MOA are different for everyone, but pure CBD is remarkably versatile and can easily be customized to fit your needs.

WHERE CAN YOU BUY ISOLATE?

When buying CBD isolate, or any other product containing cannabidiol, you must purchase from a reputable company. Iconic Remedies Pure CBD Isolate Powder is an excellent choice thanks to their dedication to quality; you can learn more about their company values, products, and commitment to customer satisfaction here.

The human body is approximately 60 percent water, and that can be problematic when delivering a fat-soluble compound like CBD to the bloodstream. Some methods of consumption, such as sublingual absorption and inhalation, negate the solubility issue by taking a direct route to the circulatory system.

Capsules complicated. The digestive system does a poor job of delivering cannabidiol to the bloodstream without help, which is why fatty acids like medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) are an invaluable addition to any edible CBD product., on the other hand, have to be ingested, and this is where absorption starts to get

MCT OIL POWDER AIDS CBD ABSORPTION

After swallowing cannabidiol, it passes through the stomach, small intestine, and liver before reaching the circulatory system. Within the liver, a group of enzymes called cytochrome P450 (CYP) metabolize CBD into over 100 other compounds, known as metabolites. The human body is unable to use the majority of these metabolites and quickly expels them.

If that seems like a waste of CBD, that’s because it is. The process of CYP enzymes breaking down cannabidiol into unusable compounds is called the first-pass effect or first-pass metabolism, and it results in a lower concentration of CBD entering the bloodstream.

Using a carrier oil, such as MCT oil powder, increases the amount of cannabidiol that enters circulation. CBD molecules bind to fatty acids, allowing them to bypass the first-pass effect. Skipping this process increases the amount of CBD that enters the bloodstream and hastens the onset of beneficial effects.

Coconuts and coconut oil are one of the best sources of medium-chain triglycerides.

HOW & WHEN TO USE CBD CAPSULES

The right dosage of cannabidiol varies from person to person, as does the best time to take CBD. For more information on determining the optimum amount and when to take it, see this in-depth article.

Like any other medication or supplement, CBD capsules should be taken with a glass of water at the same time each day to help the body become accustomed to them.

DOES EATING IMPROVE ABSORPTION?

Cannabidiol will not irritate the stomach if taken without food, so eating is not necessary. However, studies show that consuming a meal high in fat helps increase the bioavailability of CBD delivered through the digestive system.

Because the majority of CBD capsules contain a carrier oil, whether or not the stomach contains food is not all that important. The previously mentioned study only examines the effect high-fat meals have on the absorption of 99 percent pure cannabidiol capsules – basically isolate in a pill form.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO FEEL THE EFFECTS?

The route of administration for capsules takes an indirect path to the bloodstream, resulting in it taking longer to feel the effects than more direct methods of consumption. It can take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes to feel the effects of CBD capsules; however, these effects can last for 6 to 8 hours.

ARE CBD TABLETS & CAPSULES THE SAME THING?

Some manufacturers sell cannabidiol tablets as well as capsules. Despite these terms often being used interchangeably, there are some fundamental differences between the two – the most considerable of which is that tablets do not contain a carrier oil.

COMPARING CAPSULES TO CBD TINCTURES

The ingredient lists for CBD capsules and tinctures are often identical, usually consisting of cannabidiol isolate or hemp oil mixed with a carrier oil, such as MCT oil. Despite these similarities, there are a few differences between the two products.

Tinctures are far more versatile and can be added to food or drinks, as well as taken sublingually (under the tongue). As previously mentioned, sublingual absorption is faster than absorption through the digestive system, making tinctures a better choice for anyone looking for rapid relief.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CBD CAPSULES?

Although capsules take longer to work, they may be a better choice for treating chronic illnesses because the effects last longer. Capsules also always contain the same amount of cannabidiol, there is no guesswork or measuring required.

Capsules are also very discreet and can be easily passed off as a nutritional supplement or medication. Tinctures, on the other hand, require measuring oil from a rather conspicuous bottle. Although this is not difficult, it can attract unwanted attention.

Despite their similarities, tinctures and capsules are not the same. Each has unique benefits and drawbacks.

WHAT ARE THE DRAWBACKS?

Of course, one cannot say that capsules are superior to tinctures; they do have some drawbacks. The dose of CBD is far more rigid when using capsules, while the amount of tincture used is easy to adjust. This can be a benefit for some, but when experimenting with different doses tinctures are a more flexible option.

Another potential disadvantage to using capsules is that they often are made using pure CBD isolate. Depending on individual needs, this can also be a benefit for some and a negative for others. Tinctures are usually available in several varieties, containing either pure, broad-spectrum, or full-spectrum extract. To learn more about the types of tinctures and their differences, see this article.

WHERE TO BUY THE BEST CBD CAPSULES

When purchasing capsules or any other CBD product, it is important to ensure that is coming from a trusted manufacturer. Many fly-by-night operations produce poor quality or synthetic products that not only do not work but are also potentially harmful.

Iconic Remedies is committed to producing high-quality CBD capsules, tinctures, and much more. From the time the hemp is planted until the final product is shipped, the utmost care is taken to ensure customer satisfaction. Click here to learn more about Iconic Remedies products, and their commitment to customers.

WHAT DO ICONIC REMEDIES CAPSULES CONTAIN?

Iconic Remedies capsules are made using pure CBD isolate and coconut oil powder. Coconuts contain a remarkable amount of MCT oil, allowing the potent isolate to be absorbed as quickly and efficiently as possible for the best results.

WHERE DOES THE HEMP COME FROM?

Iconic Remedies uses cannabidiol isolate extracted from organically grown hemp in their capsules. Cultivated locally in Colorado, no pesticides are used to ensure that the final product never contains any harmful chemicals. Where hemp comes from is extremely important, as importing cannabis from other countries without regulations can lead to subpar – and even contaminated – CBD products.

ARE THE CAPSULES TESTED BY A TRUSTED SOURCE?

The hallmark of a reputable company and quality CBD products is the availability of third-party lab test results. Iconic Remedies provides these results for their capsules and strongly cautions readers to be wary of any manufacturer that refuses to make this information available.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Many chronic conditions are what one would call ‘disorders of unknown origin‘ – meaning no one is certain what causes them or how to manage them.
In 2003, Dr. Ethan Russo first explored the idea that a clinical endocannabinoid deficiency (CECD) is the root cause of chronic illnesses, such as fibromyalgia. This theory suggests that when the body does not produce enough endocannabinoids, numerous adverse health effects can occur.

This idea comes from the understanding that other chronic illnesses are the result of deficiencies of various chemicals, such as insufficient serotonin levels in depression. If Dr. Russo is correct, ‘disorders of unknown origin’ are also due to a lack of vital compounds, specifically endocannabinoids.

The presence of the cannabinoid receptors throughout the body helps explain how CECD can theoretically cause these seemingly unrelated illnesses. Ample scientific evidence shows that promoting healthy endocannabinoid (EC) system function reduces pain, regulates digestion, and more.

THE ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM

The EC system contains endocannabinoids, compounds that are naturally produced by the body, as well as cannabinoid receptors and enzymes that moderate their activity.

Endocannabinoids, like the bliss molecule anandamide (AEA) and 2-arachidonylglycerol (2-AG), bind to cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) to activate them, causing a variety of beneficial effects. Enzymes like FAAH work to moderate this activity by controlling the release of cannabinoids, as well as breaking them down.

Not having enough endocannabinoids in the body or having too many enzymes reduces cannabinoid receptor activity, causing health to deteriorate. This dysfunction may be the result of injury or disease, but genetics also seem to play a role in maintaining the EC system.

WHAT MEDICAL CONDITIONS DOES CECD CAUSE?

Chronic migraine, fibromyalgia, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) show the most extensive amount of evidence for CECD, although many other illnesses may also be the result of endocannabinoid deficiency. These conditions are called clinical endocannabinoid deficiency syndromes, and they all have some things in common:

-All are diagnosed using subjective criteria, such as how much pain a patient is experiencing. There are no easily accessible lab tests to diagnose these illnesses.

-All are diagnosed using a process of exclusion, meaning multiple tests like bloodwork are needed to rule out other conditions that cause the same symptoms.

-People with these ailments experience a higher rate of anxiety and depression, leading to a chicken vs. egg scenario. Does the disease cause anxiety, or is it the other way around?

These conditions also show a high prevalence of comorbidity, with around 30 percent of people with fibromyalgia having IBS, and vice versa. Chronic headaches affect an astronomical 97 percent of fibromyalgia patients, while 35.6 percent with migraines develop the rheumatic disease.

This comorbidity supports the idea they all have a similar, if not identical, underlying cause.

CHRONIC MIGRAINE

Along with agonizing headaches, chronic migraines also cause nausea, vomiting, photophobia, and phonophobia. In a medical sense, the term phobia does not refer to debilitating fear but rather a sensitivity to light (photo) or sound (phono).

The most substantial evidence that CECD causes any illness comes from a study examining the spinal fluid of chronic migraine sufferers compared to healthy control participants. Researchers found that people with migraines had significantly lower levels of AEA than their healthy counterparts.

There is also substantial evidence that cannabinoids help to reduce pain, which is invaluable in the treatment of migraines. Using cannabidiol has the additional benefit of restoring healthy EC system function to prevent migraines from occurring.

The ability of CBD to act as a TRPV1 receptor agonist likely causes these effects, as TRPV1 helps to regulate pain. Other cannabinoids, such as CBN and CBG, also bind to these receptors, which makes full-spectrum tinctures especially advantageous for treating chronic migraines.

FIBROMYALGIA

Fibromyalgia is a rheumatic disease characterized by soft tissue pain that wanders throughout the body and painful lumps known as lipomas. Lipomas are soft bumps beneath the skin that are essentially non-cancerous tumors made of fat.

This disorder is commonly comorbid with anxiety and depression, making it controversial among some doctors who believe it is psychosomatic. Despite the doubt in its validity, fibromyalgia is still one of the most commonly diagnosed illness by American rheumatologists.

Many studies examine the effectiveness of using cannabinoids to treat rheumatic diseases like arthritis, but not many of them focus specifically on fibromyalgia. However, one study found that fibromyalgia patients that used cannabis had significant reductions in pain and stiffness when compared to nonusers.

Another study examining the fascia (the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones, nerves, and blood vessels) found that the samples contained both CB1 and CB2 receptor agonists. Because the pain of fibromyalgia develops in the fascia, this finding helps to cement the link between the condition and endocannabinoid deficiency.

IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME

IBS, also known as spastic colon, causes symptoms that include gastrointestinal pain, spasms, discomfort, and altered bowel movements. Many of the symptoms of IBS are regulated by the endocannabinoid system, making it a logical target for treatment and CECD a likely cause.

Cannabis was one of the first effective clinical interventions for diarrhea during the early 19th century when it was used to handle the symptom in patients with cholera. Despite over two centuries of anecdotal evidence that cannabinoids work, anticholinergics, antidepressants, and even opiates are standard treatments for IBS.

Treatments that regulate the EC system, such as cannabidiol, may boost AEA levels and desensitize TRPV1 receptors, which are known to experience complications due to IBS, contributing to pain. However, more research is needed to be sure which cannabinoids help and at what dose.

While TRPV1 agonists like CBD, CBG, CBN, and CBC are clear treatment options, THC has also been shown to be effective.

OTHER TREATMENT-RESISTANT ILLNESSES

Other diseases that show a link to poor EC system function include obesity, which appears to be caused by overactivation of CB1 receptors. Using a CB1 antagonist, like cannabidiol, can reduce receptor activity to help control compulsive eating.

Additional illnesses that may be CECD syndromes include multiple sclerosis, schizophrenia, anorexia, Huntington’s, Parkinson’s, chronic motion sickness, cystic fibrosis, phantom limb pain, glaucoma, unexplained fetal wastage (repetitive miscarriages), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorders, and many others.

All of these conditions are characterized by pathophysiological features, meaning there are both psychological and physical symptoms, that are difficult to explain. They usually respond poorly to treatment, which implies traditional medications are not addressing the underlying cause.

WHAT ARE THE TREATMENT METHODS FOR CECD SYNDROMES?

Because clinical endocannabinoid deficiency is still a theory, there is no universal treatment as of yet to improve the many syndromes associated with it. The current approach to these illnesses is to treat the symptoms, as the underlying cause is still not completely understood.

For example, patients with fibromyalgia and chronic migraines may take opioid-based medications to control their pain. Doctors often prescribe antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications to treat irritable bowel syndrome.

All of these treatments are generally ineffective and have the potential to cause more harm than good, which is partially why most of these conditions are treatment-resistant. The other reason is the unwillingness of some physicians to take these chronic illnesses seriously.

Sometimes clinicians are skeptical of how valid these diseases are because of their mysterious origins, leading some to label them as psychosomatic, meaning they are psychological in origin and have no physiological cause. Further research into clinical endocannabinoid deficiency may help dispel this idea, akin to how understanding neurotransmitters changed the treatment of mental illness.

HOW TRADITIONAL METHODS ARE HARMFUL

Not only does the lack of understanding make managing these conditions difficult, but it can also make them worse. Long-term use of an agonist, which directly acts on CB1 and CB2 receptors, can desensitize receptors and decrease their ability to function. It also can cause a tolerance to develop, not only to the pharmaceutical agonist a person is using but to all of them, including endocannabinoids.

Although drugs like SSRIs, antipsychotics, and anxiolytics exhibit potential in preclinical studies, chronic use is likely harmful. Even a partial agonist like THC has been shown to increase CB1 density in rodents, which decreases cannabinoid-induced receptor activity throughout the brain.

A post-mortem study of humans shows the same results, with long-term cannabis smokers showing a decreased ability for endocannabinoids to bind to CB1. Living subjects also illustrate a direct correlation between the number of years using cannabis and the density of CB1 receptors.

However, consuming smaller amounts of appears to improve CB1 receptor function and the ability for other cannabinoids to bind to it. This small amount of a partial agonist works to kick-start the endocannabinoid system, helping to improve and regulate function.

USING FULL SPECTRUM TINCTURES TO TREAT CECD

The cannabinoids found in hemp and marijuana could prove to be an effective treatment for the many conditions associated with CECD. Full-spectrum CBD is an excellent candidate, as it contains enough THC to kick-start the EC system but not enough to cause a tolerance to natural CB1 agonists.

THC is also nearly identical in molecular structure to AEA, allowing it to bind to the same receptors to replicate the effects of anandamide.

CBD, on the other hand, does not bind to these receptors but does enhance the effects of THC by inhibiting FAAH activity, one of the enzymes that breakdown AEA and 2-AG.

Cannabichromene (CBC) and cannabigerol (CBG) are also potent inhibitors of anandamide uptake, which further helps increase levels of the vital endocannabinoid. The additional cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids in full-spectrum tinctures all work together to improve EC system function, restoring a natural balance to alleviate the many syndromes CECD is thought to cause.

IS USING FULL-SPECTRUM TINCTURES SAFE?

Everything on the planet comes with unintended side effects, but the ones associated with full-spectrum CBD are far from dangerous and much less severe than other medications used to treat the conditions linked to CECD. While it is possible to experience drowsiness, appetite changes, and other mild discomforts, they usually resolve on their own within a few days.

While real, hemp-derived cannabidiol is not dangerous, there are products falsely labeled as CBD that are. Because the FDA does not regulate the production of tinctures, reports of adverse reactions to products containing synthetic cannabinoids abound.

HOW TO FIND A GOOD FULL-SPECTRUM TINCTURE

The lack of regulation means that it is up to consumers to ensure they are purchasing a high-quality, safe product. When choosing a full-spectrum tincture, either to improve a condition associated with clinical endocannabinoid deficiency or to promote overall health, take the time to learn about the product.

Iconic Remedies Full-Spectrum CBD Tincture is made using hemp organically grown in Colorado. The high-quality hemp oil extracted from these plants is mixed with coconut MCT oil to create a fast-acting tincture. Cannabinoids are fat-soluble, so a healthy fatty acid like MCT is invaluable in ensuring the maximum amount of relief in the minimum amount of time.

Independent testing is a hallmark of quality cannabidiol products, and it is the only way to be sure they contain what the manufacturer claims on the label.

The growing popularity of cannabidiol has saturated the market with numerous products, but not nearly as much information. Manufacturer recommendations for dosing are all over the board, often varying widely and failing to take the individuality of each user into account.

Many factors determine what amount of cannabidiol will work best for each person, including their weight and their intended use of the product. Unlike other supplements, there is no recommended daily allowance of CBD or universal dosing guidelines, so finding the right amount can be tricky.

Some edible products contain relatively low doses of 5 mg, while an experienced CBD user may need ten times that amount to feel any effects. The type of product also impacts dosage, as cannabidiol edibles can take anywhere from 60-180 minutes to take effect while inhalants act in as little as 5-10 minutes.

While this may seem complicated, finding the right dose of cannabidiol is not that hard. Using pure CBD isolate can make the process even more straightforward, but more on that in a minute.

First things first, how do you find the right dose to start with? Ask yourself the following questions to help find an answer.

WHAT DO YOU WANT CBD TO DO?

The affects you want to obtain from using cannabidiol are going to determine how much you need to take. CBD is biphasic, meaning that specific amounts in the bloodstream cause one list of effects, while higher or lower concentrations cause another.

This concept might sound complicated, but alcohol is also a biphasic substance and can help clarify how this works. One or two drinks can cause a stimulant effect, making a person more talkative and outgoing. Eleven or twelve cocktails will likely cause that person to become unconscious from the depressant effects of high blood alcohol content (BAC).

Although high concentrations of cannabidiol in the bloodstream will not cause the intoxicating effects of high BAC, it acts somewhat the same. Small amounts of CBD can have energizing effects, while large amounts cause drowsiness.

The biphasic nature of cannabidiol helps explain why sometimes the effects contradict one another. If you want to take CBD to help with sleep or pain management, then you will want to use a higher dose with sedative effects. If you’re using it as a supplement to improve overall health, a smaller amount that does not cause drowsiness may be a better choice.

HOW ARE YOU USING CBD?

Perhaps just as important as the intended effects, the method of absorption (MOA) is also crucial in determining how much you will need. The MOA refers to the route CBD takes to enter the bloodstream.

Isolates have many ways into the body, ranging from inhalation to ingestion; this makes them particularly useful for experimenting with not only the dose but also the method of absorption. CBD targets more than 65 different systems throughout your body, so figuring out how you want to use it is just as important as why.

Keep in mind that quality, along with dose and MOA, will impact how well a product works, how long it works, and what effects it will produce. With that said, let’s take a closer look at each method of absorption.

EDIBLE CBD PRODUCTS

Isolates can be mixed seamlessly into food and drinks, but swallowing CBD is the slowest way to feel the effects. Before passing to the bloodstream, any cannabidiol you ingest has to pass through the digestive system into the liver.

Because the liver is involved in this process, ingesting CBD has the potential to interfere with other drugs that are broken down by the liver. If you regularly take prescription or over-the-counter medications, it is essential to consult with your doctor before you begin using cannabidiol products.

There are benefits to absorbing CBD through digestion, though. Ingesting cannabidiol causes the effects to last longer than any other method of absorption, and it is also very discreet. You can add a healthy fat when consuming CBD to increase the amount that enters your bloodstream.

SUBLINGUAL CBD PRODUCTS

Sublingual (under the tongue) or buccal (oral) absorption delivers cannabidiol swiftly to the bloodstream through the numerous blood vessels in the mouth. By skipping over the digestive system, CBD quickly takes effect but also fades away faster.

To use isolate sublingually or buccally, place it under the tongue or swish it around in your mouth for at least a minute before swallowing. Eating before you take cannabidiol this way may help to enhance absorption, as chewing increases blood flow to the mouth.

SMOKABLE CBD PRODUCTS

Cannabidiol products like isolate can also be inhaled by using a vaporizer or adding it to other smokable herbs. This method is the most rapid way to absorb CBD, with it passing instantly from the lungs to the bloodstream, but it also has the shortest lasting effects.

It is important to note that while inhalation is an effective way to get rapid results, it is also the least recommended. Inhaling smoke or vapor can have adverse effects on pulmonary health, up to and including lung cancer.

TOPICAL CBD PRODUCTS

Topical CBD products work by penetrating the outer layer of the skin and interacting with the cannabinoid receptors just below the surface. This type of use is a bit different, as using a topical product only delivers some of the cannabidiol to your bloodstream while the rest stays in the skin.

Isolate can be added to lotions, creams, and oils to experiment with different doses of topical products. Topical CBD is excellent for targeting localized pain from conditions like arthritis or improving problematic skin.

WHY ARE YOU USING CBD?

Your optimum CBD dosage will be influenced by whether you want to treat a specific condition or improve your overall health. How often you take cannabidiol and how you use it are also determined by the reason why you are using it. For example, you would not use a topical product to treat anxiety and depression, but they are excellent for reducing arthritis pain.

CBD FOR CHRONIC PAIN

Topical application is not the only way CBD can help those that live with the persistent ache of inflammatory diseases, like arthritis. Ingesting CBD throughout the day in combination with topicals as needed can help effectively manage pain.

The drawn-out effects of edible CBD are also beneficial for managing neuropathic pain, and vaping can instantly calm sudden, sporadic outbursts. The amount of CBD you will need to manage chronic pain increases parallel to the severity of your symptoms.

CBD FOR MENTAL HEALTH

A low dose of CBD, taken in food or drinks throughout the day, can help improve symptoms of mental illnesses like depression and anxiety. If you are prone to panic attacks, using a vape pen or sublingual absorption can help provide rapid relief.

The pharmaceuticals that treat these illnesses may heighten the effects of CBD and vice versa, so consult with your doctor if you are taking medications for anxiety or depression. Never stop using an antidepressant or anti-anxiety medication without first talking to a healthcare professional.

CBD FOR SLEEP DISORDERS

Swallowing a high dose of CBD a few hours before bedtime can help if you have trouble falling asleep. If the extended effects of ingestion still are not enough to keep you from waking during the night, vaping can help you quickly fall back asleep.

Unlike other treatments of insomnia and other sleep disorders, using isolate will not alter your natural sleep-wake cycle when taking the minimum amount necessary. You will not be sacrificing sleep quality for sleep quantity by using CBD isolate, nor will you feel drowsy the next day.

CBD FOR SEIZURES & EPILEPSY

Epilepsy takes a fairly big dose of cannabidiol to control, but multiple studies show it is remarkably effective at reducing seizures. Taking a regular dose of cannabidiol, either through ingestion, oral absorption, or inhalation can help to reduce seizure frequency and severity.

If you take prescription medications for epilepsy, do not stop taking them without talking to your doctor. The effectiveness of CBD can vary from one person to another, depending on the severity of their seizures.

HOW MUCH CBD SHOULD YOU USE?

While there is no universal dose, there are some basic guidelines you can follow once you decide if you need a lower or higher amount. Use 1-2 mg per 10 lbs. of body weight for a low dose, 3-4 mg for a moderate dose, and 5-6 mg for a high dose.

Always start low and go slow. If the initial dose you try is effective, lower it by about 25 percent to see if it still works. If it is ineffective, raise it by 25 percent every few days. Adjust the amount back and forth until you find what works perfectly for you.

If you are still unsure how much to take, you can consult with your doctor to help determine the optimum amount for you. Keep in mind that some states have laws preventing physicians from discussing CBD with patients.

AND WHEN SHOULD YOU USE IT?

One of the most common side effects reported by CBD users is drowsiness, which can be beneficial in some cases. For people with insomnia, taking a high dose at night can offer invaluable relief, but others may not want to affect their level of alertness.

If you do not want to feel sleepy but need to take a higher dose, try splitting it up throughout the day. When experimenting with different amounts of CBD, keep daytime dosage on the lower side, while evening doses can be a bit higher.

When taking cannabidiol at night, you will want to use an even higher dose to avoid it wearing off before morning. No matter when you decide to use CBD, you will likely need to take an additional maintenance dose of 2-7 mg when the effects begin to wear off.

CAN YOU TAKE TOO MUCH CBD?

Human studies on cannabidiol use doses ranging from 20-1500 mg per day. While 1500 mg is more than most people will ever need to take, this research shows that there is no fatal dose of CBD.

A 2011 review of scientific evidence found that frequent, high doses of cannabidiol were well tolerated by humans. CBD causes minimal side effects, no matter how much you take, and they usually go away on their own within a few days. Mild discomforts like drowsiness and changes in appetite are the most commonly reported among CBD users.

To avoid side effects, and the potential risk of developing a tolerance, always use the lowest dose that works to manage your symptoms. If you are using isolate to promote your overall health instead of treating a specific condition, stick to the lower end of the dose spectrum.

HOW DO YOU MEASURE CBD ISOLATE?

As previously mentioned, when trying to find your optimum dose of CBD, there is no product more flexible or effective than isolate. Not only can you use it to help you determine the right amount for you to take, but also the right way for you to take it.

dose spectrum.

To get a precise, versatile dose of cannabidiol, use a kitchen scale that shows weight in milligrams to measure your isolate. High-quality CBD isolate is an odorless, tasteless, white crystalline powder that is 99 percent pure, so there is approximately 1 mg of CBD per mg of an isolate.

This simple 1:1 ratio makes measuring the exact amount of isolate you want to use a breeze and is the easiest way to get a precise dose that meets your needs.

IS THERE AN EASIER WAY?

If you do not want to bother with weighing out isolate, CBD capsules are an easy way to get a precise dose without measuring or preparing anything. However, the amount of CBD is not nearly as flexible, and it can only be taken through digestion.

Capsules are still a reliable choice if your optimal CBD dose falls around 25, 50, or 75 milligrams. If you are not treating specific symptoms, a single 25 mg capsule incorporated into your morning routine is undoubtedly the easiest way to promote overall health.

WHERE CAN YOU BUY CBD ISOLATE & CAPSULES?

Although CBD does not cause any severe side effects, that does not mean that all CBD products are safe.
FINAL THOUGHTS

Hopefully, researchers will eventually be able to say you need X amount to treat this condition and X amount for this one. But even when, or if, that day comes, you will eventually need to readjust the amount you take when your body becomes accustomed to it.

Regardless of the starting dose and method of absorption, remember to be patient. It can take trial and error to figure out how much CBD you should take, but you will eventually find the perfect amount.

When archaeologists discover prehistoric settlements, they often find the remains of therapeutic herbs. These findings, along with early medical texts, suggest humans have been using herbal remedies since the dawn of time, and cannabis is no exception.

Our ancient ancestors had no choice but to use the whole plant, but modern technology allows contemporary users access to a variety of full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and purified products. Among the multitude of options, many cite tinctures as one of the most effective.

What kind of tincture is the best, though? To answer this, an understanding of the differences between full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and pure hemp extracts is crucial.

WHAT COMPOUNDS DO HEMP PLANTS CONTAIN?

Researchers often call cannabis the plant of one-thousand-and-one molecules because it contains such an enormous number of compounds. The fundamental difference between each type of tincture is how many of these compounds end up in the final product.

100 CANNABINOIDS & COUNTING

Over the last 50 years, scientists studying the pharmaceutical potential of cannabis have isolated over 100 individual cannabinoids. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) are undoubtedly the most well-known and well-researched, but they are far from the only ones with therapeutic benefits.

Cannabinol (CBN): The first cannabinoid isolated by researchers, CBN is a powerful sedative. It helps to promote bone tissue growth, and also mimic some of the effects of CBD with anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, and antibiotic properties.

Cannabigerol (CBG): This cannabinoid can help regulate mood, appetite, and sleep by increasing levels of serotonin and dopamine. CBG is useful in the treatment of mental illnesses like anxiety and depression, as well as sleep disorders.

Cannabichromene (CBC): One of the most promising cannabinoids in medical research, CBC functions similarly to over-the-counter painkillers like ibuprofen, but without the dangerous side effects. CBC also shows the potential to inhibit cancer cell growth.

Cannabidivarin (CBDV): Nearly identical in molecular structure to cannabidiol, the anticonvulsant properties of CBDV might be even stronger than those of CBD. This cannabinoid is also useful in the treatment of nausea and vomiting, especially for patients undergoing chemotherapy.

Although not as much research exists to confirm the benefits of these compounds, all cannabinoids have so far shown enormous potential in treating a range of conditions.

THE BENEFITS OF TERPENES

Terpenes are the chemicals that give plants their scents, such as linalool in lavender, limonene in citrus fruits, and pinene in evergreen trees. Studies using mice and rats show these compounds can mimic many of the therapeutic effects of cannabinoids.

Pinene: The most common terpene found in nature, pinene is antibiotic and anti-inflammatory. It also possesses neuroprotective properties that can help prevent memory loss.

Myrcene: Another anti-inflammatory agent, myrcene smells a bit like balsamic vinegar. It has been shown to act as a painkiller in rodents and may have sedative effects in humans.

Linalool: A powerful sedative, linalool molecules are why the smell of lavender improves sleep. It also helps to reduce seizure frequency and has a soothing effect comparable to menthol when applied topically.

Limonene: This terpene can increase levels of serotonin and dopamine. One study shows inhaling citrus fragrances, which limonene cause, led to 9 out of 12 patients successfully stopping their use of prescription anti-depressants.

Hemp contains all these terpenes and numerous others with unique medicinal benefits of their own. Some purified cannabidiol products, such as terp shatter, use these molecules to add flavor and heighten therapeutic effects.

THE EFFECTS OF PHENOLICS

Phenolic compounds, or simply phenolics, are a group of aromatic chemicals including flavonoids, lignans, and stilbenes. These molecules mimic some of the beneficial effects of cannabinoids and terpenes.

Flavonoids: These potent antioxidants can help reduce the risk of chronic illnesses such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s. Flavonoids also have anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties.

Lignans: These little components of plant fiber, like the kind found in hemp, are antioxidants, too. Lignans show immense potential in cancer treatment, especially breast cancer, and the US Cancer Institute views them as “high-interest compounds” for future research.

Stilbenes: A third antioxidant, stilbenes seem to show a particular affinity for the brain. This preference may make them especially useful in preventing strokes, as well as treating movement disorders like Parkinson’s.

As previously mentioned, the primary distinction between full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and pure CBD tinctures is the number of compounds they contain.

WHAT COMPOUNDS DOES EACH TINCTURE CONTAIN?

The process and extract used to make each type of tincture determines which cannabinoids, terpenes, and phenolic compounds end up in the final product.

PURE CBD TINCTURE CONTENTS

Tinctures containing purified cannabidiol oil do not contain any additional compounds. These tinctures are made using CBD isolate, an odorless and tasteless crystalline powder.

Pure CBD tinctures contain isolate mixed with coconut MCT oil to make these tinctures. MCTs, or medium-chain triglycerides, are fatty acids that help the body quickly absorb CBD, which is fat-soluble.

BROAD-SPECTRUM TINCTURE CONTENTS

The molecular profile of broad-spectrum tinctures is far more elaborate than those that only contain cannabidiol. Apart from THC, these tinctures contain all the additional cannabinoids, terpenes, and phenolic compounds cannabis has to offer.

These tinctures are made using a cold ethanol extraction process, which creates a full-spectrum hemp oil. Additional processing removes the psychoactive THC, leaving a broad spectrum-extract that is mixed with coconut MCT oil to aid absorption.

FULL-SPECTRUM TINCTURE CONTENTS

Full-spectrum tinctures contain all the cannabinoids, terpenes, and phenolic compounds found in hemp, including THC. Because they are made using hemp-derived extracts, these tinctures contain less than 0.3% of THC and will not cause psychoactive effects.

Cannabidiol isolate was once thought to be the most effective type of hemp extract, however emerging research suggests that this might be wrong. Full-spectrum tinctures may have added therapeutic value because of a phenomenon known as the entourage effect.

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE ENTOURAGE EFFECT?

The entourage effect is a term used to describe the idea that cannabinoids, terpenes, and phenolic compounds heighten the benefits of one another when taken in conjunction.

Because many terpenes and phenolics have similar effects to those of cannabinoids, they are thought to increase the therapeutic potential of full-spectrum tinctures.

Entourage compounds may also increase the duration of effects from cannabinoids. The same enzyme metabolizes many of the compounds in hemp, including cannabidiol, which may slow the breakdown of CBD keeping it active longer.

EFFECTS ON DOSE-RESPONSE CURVES

The dose-response curve describes the relationship between the dosage and the effectiveness of medicinal compounds. Cannabinoid isolates tend to show a biphasic dose-response curve, meaning that once a peak dose is reached increasing that dosage will not improve the effects.

Full-spectrum hemp extracts have a linear dose-response curve, meaning there is not a peak dose. Theoretically, these extracts will not lose their effectiveness over time, like other natural and pharmaceutical medications do.

A 2018 review of clinical studies on the treatment of epilepsy with hemp-based medications found that patients using full-spectrum products took an average dose of 6.0 mg per kg of their body weight daily.

Those using pure cannabidiol, on the other hand, took more than four times that amount with a daily average of 25.3 mg per kg of body weight. This drastic difference in dosage may be the reason whole-plant products have a linear dose-response curve and purified cannabidiol does not.

REDUCES ADVERSE SIDE EFFECTS

The same review of epileptic patients found that full-spectrum hemp extracts had far less potential to produce side effects than pure CBD. While the side effects for all cannabidiol-based products are the same, this could be beneficial for people susceptible to them.

Mild side effects were reported among an astonishing 76% of pure CBD users, while only 33% of patients using whole-plant medicines reported any side effects. Of these, 26% of isolate users and 7% of full-spectrum users reported their side effects as severe.

The most common complaints from both groups of patients were changes in appetite, sleepiness, weight changes, and gastrointestinal issues. These adverse effects usually resolve themselves within a few days and are not overtly dangerous.

WHAT THE RESEARCH SAYS

The previously mentioned study of epileptic patients evaluated the results of 670 individuals. When using the standard clinical threshold of 50% reduction in seizure frequency, pure CBD was slightly more effective, with 42% of patients showing improvement, compared to 37% of full-spectrum users.

In 2010, research into the effectiveness of cannabis extracts on opioid-resistant pain found that a full spectrum of compounds was considerably effective. The same study found that THC had no more effect than a placebo on the amount of pain study participants reported.

Many cite a 2015 study as definitive evidence whole-plant medicine is more effective, as it also illustrates the differences in dose-response curves. Far from being comprehensive, this study looks at the extract from one specific plant and only acts to reinforce what researchers already know.

A study from 2018 suggests that full- and broad-spectrum medications were more effective than THC alone in the treatment of breast cancer. Researchers concluded that multiple cannabinoids working together likely produced these beneficial effects, as terpenes were found to have no role in them.

While the majority of research available compares using multiple cannabinoids to a single one, the medicinal benefits of terpenes and phenolic compounds also play a vital role in the entourage effect.

Evidence suggests both CBD and terpenes can counteract the negative impacts of THC use, such as short-term memory loss.

DOWNSIDES OF THE ENTOURAGE EFFECT

Even with the protective benefits of all the compounds in hemp, the presence of psychoactive THC is by far the biggest downside to products that create the entourage effect.

Even trace amounts of THC can show up on a drug test, with most tests measuring in nanograms or about one-billionth of a gram. Testing that uses hair measures THC content in picograms, which are only about one-trillionth of a gram.

Some states still have zero-tolerance policies when it comes to THC in spite of federal legalization of hemp-derived products, meaning a positive result can earn you an impaired driving fine.

There is an unfortunate lack of research comparing the effectiveness of broad-spectrum products to full-spectrum ones. However, removing a single cannabinoid should not negate all the effects of taking the many compounds found in hemp together.

Individuals who are subject to regular screenings should not risk their livelihoods by taking full-spectrum products, no matter how much evidence backs up the entourage effect. Broad-spectrum tinctures offer a way to experience this effect without using THC, and they may be just as beneficial.

SO, WHICH TYPE OF TINCTURE IS THE BEST?

Despite there being clear evidence that the entourage effect is most likely a real phenomenon, that does not mean full-spectrum tinctures are the best choice for everyone.

Broad-spectrum and pure CBD tinctures have their unique benefits and might be more efficient when it comes to treating specific conditions.

FULL-SPECTRUM TINCTURE BENEFITS

Full-spectrum tinctures offer the full benefits of hemp and undergo less processing. They are ideal for anyone looking for a specific THC to CBD ratio, and those with severe conditions that do not improve using other extracts.

The downside of full-spectrum products is they may cause unwanted sedative effects and can show up on drug tests, potentially causing legal issues. They may also have a stronger natural flavor and odor from the additional terpenes and phenolics.

BROAD-SPECTRUM TINCTURE BENEFITS

Broad-spectrum tinctures can also offer the full benefits of hemp without any of the risks of THC. However, because the technology to remove THC while leaving everything else intact is still relatively new, there is a lot less research on the topic.

These tinctures may also have a strong flavor and odor. They can help individuals with a sensitivity to THC, or those in states with strict laws and employers with zero-tolerance policies. Individuals with conditions that CBD alone cannot alleviate may also find broad-spectrum tinctures beneficial.

PURE CBD TINCTURE BENEFITS

Pure CBD tinctures are the purest form of cannabidiol. They have no dangerous psychoactive effects, are tasteless and odorless, and are usually considered safe. Their main drawback is that they do not deliver the benefits of the entourage effects and have a peak dose.

These tinctures are advantageous for people who need to take high doses of CBD, individuals with sensitivities to other compounds found in hemp, those that dislike the natural taste of cannabis, anyone who regularly undergoes drug testing, and anyone else hesitant about using other cannabinoids.

AND THE BEST TINCTURE IS…

Whichever tincture works best for you! Because everyone is different, the most effective option will be different, too. Personal preference and the intended use of a tincture will help you to determine whether full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, or pure CBD is the best option for you.

Whichever type of tincture you choose, always purchase from a reputable brand that provides independent lab test results. The majority of cannabidiol products are not regulate by the FDA, testing from an unbiased 3rd party is the only way to know if your tincture contains what the label claims.

For more information on CBD tinctures and drug testing, see this article published by Healthline. Iconic Remedies cannot guarantee screening results, as cross contamination from your home and second-hand exposure to THC may trigger positive readings, even when using pure cannabidiol products.

The shifting mainstream attitudes towards cannabis and its derivatives has opened the gates for a flood of health and wellness products. Cannabinoids, especially cannabidiol (CBD), have gone from substances thought of as useless and addictive to the trendiest additive in everything from mascara to pet treats.

This avalanche of innovation has brought about lots of new products that many people have never seen before. One of these products that can seem especially intimidating is CBD isolates. The white crystalline powder looks like it was made in a laboratory, not extracted from hemp plants.

Although it may seem unnatural, rest assured that it is not. Isolate is the purest form of cannabidiol available and is just as natural as any other cannabis extract. Read on to learn more about how it is made, what health conditions it can improve, and the many different ways you can use it.

WHAT EXACTLY ARE CBD ISOLATES?

To put it plainly, CBD isolates are the purest form of CBD on the planet. It contains an astronomical 99% concentration of the therapeutic compound. Usually sold as a powder, or sometimes in small slabs, pure CBD isolates are a colorless crystalline substance.

All the additional essential oils, terpenes, waxes, and cannabinoids found in the hemp plant are removed, unlike broad-spectrum and full-spectrum extracts. CBD isolates are simply cannabidiol, and nothing else.

HEMP EXTRACTION PROCESS

To make CBD isolates, Iconic Remedies uses the cold ethanol extraction method. This process is not only extremely efficient, but it is also classified as safe by the FDA. It results in a solvent-free product, which is why some medications and food products (like lemon extract) are made the same way.

Using cold ethanol extraction produces a full-spectrum extract. Additional filtering methods are used to remove everything but cannabidiol, leaving pure CBD isolates.

WHAT ARE THE THERAPEUTIC USES?

CBD can be used to help relieve the symptoms of an array of physical and mental health concerns, or to improve overall wellbeing. CBD isolates are an excellent way to experience the healing effects of cannabidiol without any additional ingredients. Plus, it is very versatile and easy to use!

CBD isolates work by interacting with the endocannabinoid system, a network of receptors that help regulate many biological processes. Research has shown that activating this system can be beneficial in the treatment of numerous illnesses, some of which are listed below.

ANXIETY & DEPRESSION

Taking CBD has a similar effect to using reuptake inhibitors that target neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin. It works by increasing the levels of these chemicals, which in turn regulates emotions. This can improve the symptoms of mental illnesses like anxiety disorder and depression.

PAIN & INFLAMMATION

A common cause of pain, inflammation is usually treated with drugs like ibuprofen (Motrin). These medications work by eliminating compounds that cause inflammation, like histamines. CBD does the same thing, but without the dangerous side effects of OTC pills, which have been linked to liver and kidney failure.

MOVEMENT DISORDERS

CBD has neuroprotective effects that help keep the brain healthy. This can help lessen the symptoms of movement disorders like Parkinson’s and Huntington’s. There is even a pharmaceutical called Sativex that has been shown to reduce muscle spasms in patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

SEIZURES & EPILEPSY

The most widely accepted use for cannabidiol is for treating epilepsy. There is an FDA-approved drug that contains CBD, called Epidiolex, that is used in the treatment of severe forms of epilepsy. It is not clear how CBD produces its anticonvulsant effects, but it is clear that it works.

NAUSEA & VOMITING

Out of control serotonin receptors are thought to be one of the primary causes of nausea. Controlling the overstimulation of these receptors is how antiemetics (emetic meaning vomiting) like Gravol work. CBD has the same effects and is especially helpful for patients with treatment-resistant nausea, like those undergoing chemotherapy.

AND SO MUCH MORE!

It would be impossible to include a complete list of all the marvelous benefits that CBD has to offer in a single article. New research is taking place all across the globe, and scientists are not even close to understanding everything this miracle molecule can do.

Some research has shown that cannabidiol may reduce the effects of Alzheimer’s by reducing brain plaque and information. Other studies show promise for regulating blood pressure, lowering the chance of having a stroke or heart attack.

Other remarkable uses include treating psychotic symptoms associated with conditions like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. CBD may also help keep the symptoms of other neurological diseases like autism and AD(H)D in check. And it is one of the most promising tools in modern substance abuse treatment.

IS IT SAFE TO USE REGULARLY?

Like any other health and wellness product, it is vital to make sure CBD isolates are safe for daily use. Studies show cannabidiol is quite harmless, especially when compared to OTC medications and pharmaceuticals that are usually taken without a second thought.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Everything on Earth can cause unpleasant effects, it all depends on the individual. For instance, many people take penicillin when they have an infection without experiencing any problems at all. Giving that same penicillin to an allergic patient could cause everything from hives to deadly anaphylactic shock.

Luckily CBD has never caused anything as severe as life-threatening anaphylaxis, or any other reaction that could be considered dangerous. The most common side effects experienced by cannabidiol users are changes in appetite and mood, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, nausea, or vomiting.

Most of these side effects will resolve themselves within a few weeks. It must be noted that some medications, such as anticonvulsants, can interact with CBD. If you regularly take medications, it is recommended you talk with your doctor before you start using CBD products.

CONCERNS ABOUT THC

While there are benefits to using both broad and full-spectrum extracts, these are not an option for everyone. CBD isolates do not contain anything other than cannabidiol, everything else is removed.

Although the less than 0.3% concentration of THC found in full-spectrum products is not enough to cause psychoactive effects, it is still present in your system. This can result in failing a drug screen. Using an isolate is the best option for people who absolutely cannot have positive results, such as police officers or military service members.

HOW DO YOU USE CBD ISOLATES?

Many people find that CBD isolates are the most versatile way to take their daily dose of CBD, or to up the CBD content in the other broad and full-spectrum products they use. You can smoke or vape it, mix it into virtually anything or take it on its own. The only limit to how you use it is your imagination.

SUBLINGUAL ABSORPTION

When you place powdered isolate directly under your tongue, the high concentration of blood vessels and mucous membranes quickly absorbs and delivers it to your system. Simply measure out the amount you want to take and leave it under your tongue for about 60 seconds. Because it is odorless and tasteless, this is not an unpleasant experience.

TRANSDERMAL ABSORPTION

CBD isolates can easily be used in place of other topical products for minor discomforts. Mix the isolate into a skin-safe oil, such as coconut, and apply directly to the affected area. This is great for spot treatment of pain and inflammation from arthritis, as well as treating problematic skin.

ADD IT TO FOOD & DRINKS

Measure out the amount of isolate you want to take and mix it into your morning cup of coffee. If that isn’t your thing, try it in tea, juice or a smoothie. It can also be added to sauces, yogurt, pudding, spreads, and anything else you can think of!

USE IN BAKING & COOKING

CBD isolates can even be added to baked goods, homemade preserves, soup, and other recipes! If you want to use it in cooking, you must first heat the oil or fat the recipe calls for and dissolve the CBD in it. Let it cool back down and then make the recipe as directed.

Make sure you do not heat your CBD over 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and never above 400 degrees, or you risk losing all therapeutic effects. For cooking and baking to work, you must use something that contains fat. Do not use low fat or fat free alternatives, they will not work.

FINDING THE RIGHT AMOUNT

Everyone is different when it comes to finding the right amount. There is no recommended daily allowance or universal dose for CBD as of yet. When using CBD isolates for the first time, it is best to start low and go slow. If you experience side effects, lower the dose, and wait a week or two before increasing it again. Remember that most side effects do not last and will go away on their own within a few days.

WHY CHOOSE ICONIC REMEDIES PRODUCTS?

With the number of companies producing CBD products, it can be hard to decide which brands you can trust and which you should avoid. There are three essential things to consider when looking for a reputable CBD manufacturer. Find out where the hemp is sourced, what additional ingredients (if any) are used, and if there are independent lab test results for purity.

Iconic Remedies goes above and beyond to provide you with all this information and more, so you can rest assured you are buying the best CBD products on the market.

COLORADO-GROWN HEMP

The growing popularity of CBD products means some companies resort to sourcing their hemp from overseas to cut down on costs. Many foreign countries, like China and some European nations, do not have regulations in place to control the growth and cultivation of hemp. Poorly grown hemp can result in harmful chemicals making their way into products extracted from these plants.

Iconic Remedies uses hemp organically grown in Colorado, without the use of harmful pesticides, to make the extracts found in their products.

LEGAL IN ALL 50 STATES

CBD products that are not accurately tested or that come from untrustworthy suppliers may not actually be legal. Products that contain any amount higher than 0.3% THC are illegal and can land you in hot water. This is one of the many reasons it is vital to know what is in your products, whether they are CBD isolates or infused beauty products.

Iconic Remedies CBD isolates do not contain any THC. It is extracted from hemp plants and is perfectly legal in all 50 states.

3RD PARTY LAB TESTED

How do you know if the information a company tells you is accurate? Look for testing done by an unbiased third party. Anyone can make claims about the purity of their products, but if the manufacturer refuses to provide proof of those claims, it should raise a red flag immediately.

Iconic Remedies isolate, and all their other products, are tested by an independent lab to ensure everything is as advertised. If you would like a copy of these results, please email iconicremediescs@gmail.com.
